| The Sanskrit word ‘Ayerveda’.
Means the science of life and longevity. Every individual is both
a creation of cosmic energies and a unique phenomenon, a unique personality.
It is a holistic system of healing in the truest sense. Our consciousness,
mind and body is in constant interaction and relationship with
other people and the environment. To create our balance of health ‘Ayerveda’ takes
into consideration these different levels of life and their interconnection.
It is a science, which involves the balance of mind, body, emotional,
and spiritual well-being. ‘Ayerveda’ teaches that we
all have a constitution, which is our individual psychobiological
makeup. From the moment of our conception we have an individual
constitution that is created by the universal energies of space,
water, air, fire, and earth. Within the combination of these five
elements there are three fundamental energies, or ‘dosha’s’.
Earth and air constitute ‘Vata’, which is energy of
movement. Fire and water constitute ‘Pitta’, the principle
of digestion or metabolism, the transfer of matter into energy.
The third ‘dosha’, ‘Kapha’ the energy of
structure and lubrication, is made up of water and earth.
